Although, there are different reasons why injuries occur, the most common causes include:

Collision

Obviously one of the most causes of injuries is a collision. Athletes sometimes collide with each other while playing, they will fall to the ground and contact will occur. This means repeated head collision could occur and it can lead to a concussion. The mental state is affected and athletes might be required to reach the full recovery stage before they are allowed to play again. 

Overuse

Overusing a particular art of the body can also result in injury while playing. For instance, when a player plays for too long without allowing the body to recover, it can lead to wear and tear and injuries may develop over time. Good examples of this are low back pain, neck pain, or leg pain. 

Muscle strain

This can occur as a result of running at a high speed, sprinting, cramping, or when a muscle is over-stressed or torn. Muscle strains can occur frequently and can be one of the most significant problems in the football world. 

Heatstroke

This is one of the most common problems, especially during the most extreme hot weather. And when players are not hydrating properly while going through rigorous training, it can lead to severe issues can heat stroke. Hence, it is important that players hydrated during this period and also report any symptoms of heat injury to the medical practitioners. 

Inadequate coaching

Poor training can also be the reason why many footballers experience injury. If you are taking up rigorous exercise too quickly or not taking a break when pain develops during exercise, it can lead to injury. That is why when taking up any sport, it is important to take up training sessions with professional coaches who understand the techniques and methods or proper training.
