Capstone Project
Layered Spatial Intimacy
Intimacy between unrelated and related co-habitants in different generations

By: LAI Pui Ying, Venus | Tutor: Daniel Elkin
The project is located in Kat Hing Wai which is a historically Tang ethnicity settlement. In the past, residents of this village tend to live together and usually have different kinds of collective activities in Kat Hing Wai.

This project is about intimacy between unrelated and related co-habitants in different generations, exploring a way to enhance the interaction of people who live inside and outside the wall. The design makes changes in volume, adding, removing, and moving volumes to create a variety of spatial compositions, connecting two houses together as one. The composition reveals intimacy in a co-living environment.
