'Lost in a Tweed World' 2021

'Lost in a Tweed World' is my concept for Major Project Realisation, a carry on project from Concept Development.

The Riding Jacket inspired by opacity, layering, The Norfolk Jacket and The London Lady.

Mixing quintessentially British country clothing with couture elements.

Playing with the curvatures from Saddles to create contemporary garments with a country twist.

Inspiration for below's pockets experimentation, combining materials and updating classic country garments into a modern world.

Deciding upon a monochromatic colour palette due to The London Lady being between both settings of country and city, I wanted versatility.

Exploring Bespoke Clients and their needs, heritage, values and upbringings

Refining my designs from Concept Development into subtle features for The London Lady. Trouser hard-wear completely reclaimed from equine equipment to be sustainable, create nostalgia and be authentic. Silk shirt with elastic channel features created in my print design made up of prints from the end of a gun cartridge. Playing homage to the country values, heritage and upbringings.

Sketchbook: From initial sketches of designs and development into sampling with different fabric weights.

I created this jacket using lambswool layered in Chinese silk organza, piped with brown leather, silver eyelets and authentic equine finishings.

I decided I wanted to up-cycle fastenings after I had visited every trimmings shop in London, I couldn't find what I had in mind. I then explored buying new buckles from equestrian companies but I didn't like how shiny they were. So I hunted about from local stables for unwanted, broken horse tack, that I then decided gave the authentic look I was hoping for.

The Breeches

Developing the breeches fit from Concept Development and creating a unique fastening feature. Fully lined with silk lining in my 'Pampas Grass' inspired print design.
