NOV是一款為台灣護理師再設計的概念型護理車,根據他們使用護理車時的痛點以及醫療未來趨勢,重新定義了物品擺放位置和使用形式,解決「雜亂」的問題,並結合了AI機器人技術,依照工作流程自動行走至指定地點,為護理師減輕工作負擔,提供未來護理車設計之參考性。

NOV is a conceptual medical cart redesigned specifically for Taiwanese nurses. Based on their pain points and future healthcare trends, the placement of items and usage format were redefined to solve the problem of "clutter". Additionally, AI robot technology was integrated to automatically travel to designated locations according to the workflow, reducing the workload for nurses and providing a reference for future nursing cart designs.





1. AI 機器人技術自動行走
NOV護理車能自動行走至指定地點,如病房、護理站,護理師不須再推動笨重的護理車,進而減少勞力負擔。

NOV can automatically travel to designated locations, such as wards and nursing stations, eliminating the need for nurses to push the cumbersome cart and reducing their physical burden.





2. 車體自轉功能​​​​​​​
護理師可以因應不同地點需求,調整車體使用方向,我們將車體設計為近正方型(上視),在旋轉時能避免碰撞周遭物品。

Nurses can adjust the orientation of  NOV to meet the needs of different locations. The cart is designed with a nearly square shape (from a top view) which prevents collisions with surrounding objects during rotation.





3. 車體空間分配 
透過護理師的質、量化研究並結合未來醫療趨勢,我們更動了點滴的儲存空間,其他醫材的位置則大同小異,另外,我們也根據護理師的使用習慣,發展出不同的使用形式,加快他們的工作效率。

Through qualitative and quantitative research on nurses and taking into account future healthcare trends, we have made changes to the storage space for infusion bottles, while keeping the locations for other medical supplies relatively unchanged. In addition, we have developed different usage forms based on nurses' habits to enhance their work efficiency.

身為醫院的最前線,最平凡與病人接觸溝通的護理人員,他們的人力不足,嚴苛的工作環境等種種問題在台灣已存在多年,護理師的工作內容更是需要花費許多力氣與心思,一方面得照顧病人,另一方面還得處理繁瑣的事務。這些數不清的工作常造成護理師的超時工作,甚至導致職業傷害的出現。

As the frontline workers in hospitals who communicate with patients on a daily basis, nurses in Taiwan have been facing a shortage of personnel and a harsh working environment for many years. Nursing duties require significant physical and mental effort, as they not only have to care for patients but also handle various administrative tasks. These countless responsibilities often result in nurses working overtime and even experiencing work-related occupational injuries.




在台灣,許多數據反應著護理師的惡劣工作環境、逾時工作、人力缺乏等,護病比嚴重超標的問題也存在許久。

In Taiwan, many data reflect the poor working conditions, overtime work, and shortage of nursing staff experienced by nurses. The problem of severe "nurse-patient ratios" exceeding standards has also existed for a long time.

Personal experience


在了解護理師狀況後,我們開始互相分享自身接觸護理師的經驗,將與他們的接觸時間點分為掛急診住院以及看診,並寫下印象較深刻的感受,有趣的是,我們發現在各自經驗中,皆有「護理師推動護理車時看起來費力」以及「車台桌面會放置許多醫材」兩項。

After understanding the situation of nurses, we started to share our own experiences of interacting with nurses, dividing our contact time with them into emergency department, hospitalization and clinic visits. We wrote down our impressions and memorable moments. Interestingly, we found that in each of our experiences, there were two common things: "Nurses seem to struggle when pushing the medical cart" and "There are often many medical supplies placed on the cart's desktop."



    

我們繼續蒐集護理車相關資料,在需要照護多位病人的情況下,護理車是置放醫療器材、藥物和電腦重要的載體,也是護理師每天必接觸的醫療產品,在台灣醫院中,每位護理師皆會配著一台護理車,這有如他們的移動式工作站,在醫院各個角落間移動。

We continued to gather information about medical cart, which are essential for storing medical equipment, drugs, and computers. In Taiwan hospitals, each nurse is equipped with a medical cart, which serves as their mobile workstation as they move around different corners of the hospital.

在提出假設後,我們列出了約八項我們認為護理師使用護理車時「可能的痛點」,並製作一份量化問卷發放給台灣護理師填寫,以便得知最「客觀」的事實,最後我們回收了約130份有效問卷,以下為得出數據。

After proposing a hypothesis, we identified eight potential pain points that nurses may encounter when using medical carts. We then created a quantitative questionnaire and distributed it to nurses in Taiwan to obtain the most 'objective' facts. Finally, we received approximately 130 valid responses.

我們邀請了一位護理師進行深度訪談,除了請護理師分享關於問卷問題的經驗、對於現有護理車的看法、護理車的內容物以及工作流程之外,在設計發展階段,也請她給予我們專業人士的建議與想法。

We invited a nurse for interviews, during which we asked the nurse to share their experiences related to the questionnaire, their opinions on the current medical carts, the contents of the carts, and their work processes. During the design and development phase, we also asked the nurse to provide us with professional insights and recommendations.

在整個產品設計過程中,我們邀請了一位護理師擔任我們的長期顧問,給予我們護理師職場上的常發生的問題狀況、生活日常以及設計上的建議與回饋,有助於我們思考如何有效解決現有問題並讓整台車更符合護理師的需求。


We invited a nurse to be our professional consultant of this design project, and asked her some common situations and problems in their workplace, she also gave us some feedbacks and suggestions on product design, so that we could utilize our expertise to solve current problems efficiently. Importantly, we hope our product can meet nurses‘ requirements by doing the above.

護理師的工作場域會在護理站與病房之間多次來回,工作內容包括照護病人、資料處理、清潔醫療用具三類,然而每個項目都得花費護理人員不少的心思與心力。
 
 
 
Nurses shuttle back and forth between nursing station and ward when they work, and the contents involve patients caring, data processing and medical devices cleaning, yet nurses have much ado in doing the above.

一台護理車的內容物大致包含了垃圾桶、回收桶、藥品、酒精、點滴瓶、碘酒等溶劑罐、掃描器、一級醫療用品(手套/口罩/棉枝/紗布)、文件資料以及電腦設備。



A medical cart roughly has trash/recycle can, medcine, disinfection/drip bottle, medical solvent glass can, scanner, class 1 medical supplies, documents and computer, etc.

我們透過問卷製作訪問在台護理師的工作經驗和工作上的痛點,回收問卷後,我們得知了目前護理師在使用護理車時的不便與「雜亂」、「笨重」、「物品位置擺放」較有關係,其他則是電腦系統和技術上的問題。 (130份有效問卷,8題問題)



We got a lot of taiwanese nurses’ work experience and pain point through questionnaire, after reading the feedbacks, we devided most problems from the questionnaire into three categories, mess, heavy and not ideal position, and a few questions are related to computer system and techniques. (130 valid questionnaires, 8 questions) 










人體測計

工作車寬度為極端設計(手長);電腦高度為可調設計(眼高);桌面高度為平均設計(肘高),藉由人體測計數據和現有護理車尺寸設定出此產品尺寸。



The width of medical cart is extreme design (hand length), and the height of computer is adjustable design (eye height), and the height of desktop is average design (elbow design), however,  the size of this medical cart is set by the data of anthropometry and dimension of existing medical cart.

桌面凹槽設計,防止物品掉落;可拆式矽膠溶劑盒,方便清洗
The design of desktop groove could avoid items falling, and the detachable silicone storage box makes it convenient to wash.





平板支架結合點滴支架,依需求調整高度、角度、距離
The tablet stand combined with drip stand, it can adjust height, angle and distance.





三層可拆式點滴瓶櫃,提供足夠的空間置放點滴,避免雜亂現象產生
The detachable infusion bottle cabinets provide enough space and avoid clutter.





按壓式藥盒,內部圓角滑造型方便拿取物品,並透過電子螢幕上鎖
Push to open pill boxs with rounded shape inside is convenient for nurse to take items, and they can be locked through the touch screen.





雙層式抽屜可置放一級醫材和其他醫療用品,表面出口方便手套口罩的拿取
Double-layer drawer provideds the space to put medical material, and the hole on the surface makes it easy to take glove and mask.





置放生命徵兆儀器的升降式收納櫃,減緩護理師的彎腰幅度
Lifting cabinet for integrated vital sign devices could prevent nurse from over stoopping.





AI機器人技術自動行走,藉由LED燈光提醒周遭人員
Use AI technology to move automatically and remind people around through LED light.
