Silmar Painting LCC

Silmar Painting LCC is an up and coming painting company that needed some graphic design work, in particular a logo, business cards and a website.
The first part of the process was understanding what the company and its owner were all about as well as their core values. Working together with the owner, we compiled a list of adjectives. -Clean -Precise -Professional -Trustworthy
With this in mind i began sketching out ideas for a logo. My objective was to use sharp lines and angles representing a clean and precise fresh coat of paint.
Next i began looking for colors that could represent a professional and trustworthy company. while blue fulfilled both of these descriptors i included red to symbolize speed, something appropriate for a painting company. I also added a warm off-white for contrast and because it was reminiscent of common “eggshell” paint applications.
With the logo finished I moved on to Typography. I chose Franklin Gothic ATF in black italic and medium for headings and paired it with Georgia regular for paragraphs. These typefaces had a good contrast of bold clean sans-serifs and their more serious, professional counterparts.
Now it was time to start working on the website. Again i began by sketching out ideas for how the website would function and flow. The most important aspect was that a potential customer would be able to see the work and easily contact the owner.
I included a video on the hero page to show the work in action in the most effective way possible. And shot and edited the necessary Photography. I used a dark blue gradients as the background for contrast and to mimic the look of a “wall”, arranged the elements in a way in which they would visually flow down the page and made sure to use vibrant red only on important call to actions.
with the design done i wrote the HTML and CSS As my first “big” web project i struggled a bit but worked through it to make sure the website worked as intended and was responsive to different screen sizes.
The only things left to design were business cards, uniforms and decals for the side of the company’s vehicle.
Overall as my first project it was a learning experience, but the owner and i were both pleased with the results.
