Jesse Hayes's profile

album cover: mister barrington

Mister Barrington is a band lead by singer-songwriter-piano virtuoso; Oli Rockberger along with producer-drummer; Zach Danziger and bassist; Owen Biddle (of The Roots).  Both the project and the branding went through a number of different looks as we were creating the images while the album was being recorded (an unusual process).

At one point in the process Mister Barrington was an animated character based on the feel of the early Tin-Tin comics and P.G. Wodehouse covers.  Eventually we utilized the concept images by noted NYC/London photographer Lloyd Bishop.

The final product has a clean and classic feel, while retaining some of the enigmatic quality necessary for the albums musical direction.

The Village Voice Oli Rockberger was holding in the original photography was replaced with a hybrid of vintage London newspapers.   The newspapers name was changed to the "Daily Dream" as a reference to the albums original title " Mister Barrington's Daydream".

I created two "teaser" pieces for promotional use.  "Mister B's reflection" and "Toast with Jam" were created to start seeding the Mister Barrington esthetic while the first tracks were released online and the band began performing live.
