Zhvanetsky Boulevard

A year ago, the long-awaited reconstruction of the Mikhail Zhvanetsky Boulevard began.
We are convinced that the boulevard named after the legendary Odessa satirist cannot be gray and dull. And it cannot be a faceless “just a boulevard”.

Project website:

The boulevard is equally important for both local residents and visitors to the city. Along the sea, the boulevard connects the Art Museum, beloved by the citizens of Odessa, with the Mother-in-law's bridge and the main sights of the city. Here students skip classes, people walk dogs and walk with children, here tourists ask "how to get to the museum?". There is a monument to the orange ("bribe"), a monument to Nudelman. This is where Chekhov's "Cherry Orchard" originates. But the Main is not here! The one in whose honor the boulevard is named.

The place of the big man

We have created four unique statues based on the silhouette of Mikhail Mikhailovich.
Advantages: 2.5 meters in height, vandal-resistant metal, cheap to implement, does not depend on temperature extremes and seasons.

But the main thing is not navigation. And the immortal phrases of the Great Master
of Satire. A walk along the boulevard can turn into a quest — in search of Zhvanetsky's favorite phrase on one of the steles.

It won't work to get lost. We placed navigation on each stele. Here you will quickly determine where the museum is and where the colonnade is.

Let everyone see!

From the side of Gogol, Torgovaya, Preobrazhenskaya streets, or the Art Museum —
no matter how you get to the boulevard, you will be greeted by the 2.5-meter silhouette
of Mikhail Zhvanetsky.

Mikhail Mikhailovich's voice will not subside...

Meet the satirist speaker! We suggest installing a loudspeaker at the central stele.
Here recordings of the genius of satire can sound for days.

But the boulevard also has navigational problems. For example, after the reconstruction,
a bicycle path appeared, but no one can differ it from the pedestrian sidewalk.
We have designed plates that visually separate the areas for pedestrians and cyclists.
And they placed Zhvanetsky phrases on them. So for sure, we also added floor navigation.

In addition to 4 steles, we have developed additional art objects that will accompany visitors throughout the walk and help them to feel the full flavor of the boulevard.

Once upon a time on the boulevard there were already signs with the selected phrases
of Mikhail Zhvanetsky. We decided to bring them back and modernize them.

Remember at the beginning about the "dullness"? The Solar Digital team has declared
war on mediocre dullness. See how many colors, visual images. With such art objects,
the boulevard will delight the eye and cheer up.

The street can communicate with people. Easy and positive. Even on the topic of toilet
and pet cleaning. Such plates can be next to the bench and near the urn. Our watchdog gets very upset when someone doesn't clean up after their pet!

But that's not all. We could not stop ourselves and decided to add a little philosophy (quotes from Zhvanetsky) on the steps of the stairs.

Can the boulevard advertise itself?

Can! Now the entrance from the side of the museum is not obvious. We decided
to visualize the entrance more clearly and help the boulevard attract new visitors.
We have other ideas, but it's important to be able to stop on time! Everything you saw above is an initiative of the Solar Digital team.
We want to live in a modern and aesthetic space. We want to contribute
to the common cause. We will be glad if our initiative turns into real life
and we can walk along such a boulevard.

There are so many territories around that need renovation and rethinking. We believe
that urban objects, such as a park, should have their own brand and communication.
We believe that the territory of residential complexes and high-rise buildings can also
be creative and friendly. Let's join and create a creative and comfortable design space together!

We are open to any form of partnership. Solar Digital is working with developers
and development companies to reimagine the space's communication with residents.
But sometimes we also do social projects. From the heart. We really want to do
the branding of the city and the public park. We invite socially responsible businesses
to cooperate to join our efforts. Let's create together!

The project received the award UKRAINIAN DESIGN THE VERY BEST OF — GOLD
in the categories of Urban & Public Spaces Design.
