EN — Godiva, journal d'une mise à nu(e), (Godiva, Baring Diary), is an illustration diary. One of those books making us time travel while bringing back memories and feelings. So is the case for Maud Amoretti, and for people surrounding or coming across her path.
Godiva is as alike as bygone days books yet with a much more contemporary treatment. A powerful but delicate artistic direction undertaken as soon as the project began so as to enhance -without being suffocating- the quite intimate topics discussed by Maud within this book.
Each pages were drawn from scratch and accompanied with a short text. As we dive into an intimate and hushed atmosphere, the winsome illustrations -mostly made up from black pencil- of Maud come alive in an organic and delicate way. Every drawing will then be scanned, retouched by me, to finally be incorporated in the book.
We will be printing on thick, textured and softly beige colored paper from fedrigoni papermaker. We will decide to laminate the cover on a semi-matte paper (white in this case), and protect it with a matte film coating on a solid cardboard to provide a fully-durability book. Godiva will also live through a beige colored winsome headband to strengthen the back of the book.

FR — Godiva, journal d’une mise à nu(e), est un journal intime illustré. Un de ces ouvrages qui nous font voyager dans le temps, les souvenirs et les sentiments. Ceux de son autrice, Maud Amoretti, et ceux des personnes qui l’entourent ou qui ont simplement croisé sa route.
Godiva ressemble aux livres d’antan mais est revisité d’une façon très contemporaine. Une direction artistique forte mais délicate décidée dès les prémices du projet afin de sublimer -sans étouffer- les sujets très personnels abordés par Maud au sein de celui-ci.
Chacune de ses pages sont dessinées et accompagnées d’un texte assez bref. Dans une ambiance feutrée et intime, les magnifiques illustrations -majoritairement réalisées au crayon noir- de Maud prennent vie de façon organique et sensible. Tous ses dessins seront ensuite scannés, puis retouchés par mes soins, pour enfin être intégrés dans le livre.
Nous choisirons de l’imprimer sur un papier épais, texturé, et délicatement coloré en beige de chez le papetier Fedrigoni. Nous ferons le choix de contrecoller la couverture imprimée sur papier demi-mat (blanc ce coup-ci), et protégée par un pelliculage mat, sur un solide carton pour en garantir la pérennité. Godiva sera également doté d’un élégant tranchefile de couleur beige pour en renforcer le dos.
