3D Mapping

This is a self authorship project where we had to spend two weeks intensively researching into a subject of our choice and then 3 weeks exploring this subject and creating a body of work based on our enquiries and findings. I decided to look into wayfinding and how we visually navigate ourselves around. In response on two different materials I created laser cut maps displaying a set of journeys. The depth and height of the layers reflect the frequency of times I have been on that route.
The materials used reflects the journey that I am on, I have used wood for one of my cut outs as it is the last thing I touch on my daily walk to university which is when I close my front door behind myself. Secondly, its the local newspaper or the university paper that I read when I am on my journey home.
University 'space' Newspaper

Local Gloucestershire Metro Newspaper
Laser cut on 4/5mm of hardboard.
Combination of newspaper print and hardboard.
Aesthetically pleasing to the eye with the colours of the newspaper print and the burnt edges of the wood.
