For my Zine I chose to create it on the design trend of Grunge typography. Throughout the design of this Zine I wanted to keep to the theme of grunge design and display the information in a manner fitting the topic. For the colour scheme I chose to use an off black colour, a dull blue and white. I chose these colours because grunge design often was associated with black and white along side pops of dull colours through images and small graphic elements.

As for the fonts used in the Zine I chose 4 different fonts alone side type which I physically drew or painted out and scanned into and used colour overlay to fit the colour scheme. As for the fonts used I chose a grotesque san serif font (Futura), a humanist serif font (Didoni), a decorative font (AltaCalifornia) and a humanist san serif font (Template gothic OT). For the hierarchy of the Zine only utilised a Title, headings, body paragraphs and statements. Some spreads just utilise statements throughout the entire spread and others use headings and body paragraphs.

As for grids and alignments, there is no specific grid patterns due to the grunge not having a strict grid pattern throughout the document. I wanted to not utilise grids for certain pages and for some use grid patterns to roughly space out information and elements. There is no specific alignment for elements either, most elements are aligned depending on the pages design.

Along side the type used in the Zine I also utilised texture as textures are a big part of grunge design. I overlaid such textures over text and graphic shapes in the design, these textures were acquired myself as I saw interesting textures in my day to day and decided to build my Zine design around these textures. I also created some elements by painting and writing using copic markers and scanning them.

Overall I do believe that my design captures the grunge aesthetic and displays that pretty well, I believe the over all spreads are beautiful and interesting and present the information in a unique and grunge way which is captivating. If I was to redo this project I would maybe take more time getting information to present on the Zine, I spent a decent amount of time gathering information but when finally setting out the designs I realised that the information I had gathered wasn't actually that much. Another thing I would work on if this was to be redone is the flow between the spreads, the individual spreads are fine but I had doubts about the spreads not having a consistent grid pattern or layout among them although this is apart of grunge to have vague grid patterns and such elements. The colour scheme was able to balance this a bit but I still would have liked to take time and explore other avenues I could have utilised to create this flow between the spreads.
