Limbo Ascension—Limited Edition
For this project we had a choice of multiple briefs. I chose to do a brief which was to pitch myself to a potential employer. I'm really interested in both packaging, and the gaming industry so I decided to pitch myself to "Playdead" (creators of the famous indie game "Limbo") as part of their marketing team.
To gain their attention I chose to make "Limbo Ascension" (a fictional version of "Limbo 2") and create a Limited Edition version of the game which included limited edition packaging, the game, and some additional concept art. I also made 3 web banners, and a pop-up advertisement.
 
"Limbo Ascension" is based around 10 years on from the original game. After rescuing his sister, Limbo Boy (the character you play as) is stuck in Limbo. Now in his late teenage years, Limbo Boy's anger has reached boiling point, and he now seeks to fight his way out of Limbo with his new, rage-filled powers.
The cutout in the front of the box is designed to reflect the "hatred" feel that I gave "Limbo Ascension". Magnets are used to keep the lid in place, while enabling the lid to be placed in either of the 4 rotations.
The box is made up of 3 parts:
The lid——This keeps everything together.
The secondary lid——This keeps the game sleeve in place, while also keeping the concept art concealed.
The capsule——This is the main bulk of the box. It holds the concept art book, and houses the secondary lid inside it.
