The Circular park has an important role in the city planning of Yerevan. The proposal for rehabilitation of the park is based on retrospective analysis and modern requirements of competition.
Main goals of the project are:
• Create a well-organized, functional environment in a way to avoid the danger of desertification of the park.
• Barrier the park from the city noise and dust, meanwhile remain inviting for the people.
• Provide passive and active zones for everyday activities and for entertaining events and sport.
• Create flexible environment that serves during all seasons of the year.
The core of the proposal is the existing condition of the green zones with all existing trees located in the park. The program of the project consists of passive and active zones. As the most wooded part of the park is the central part of the park, the passive zone is allocated along cross axis of the site. Hence, the adjacent parts on both sides of the passive zone gradually active functions are located.
The horizontal development of the park is implementing with linear elements. Two nearest points of the site are connected with the longest possible way, that with its twisting trajectory will bring people to discover new forms and functions on the way. Meanwhile, the water channel is connecting those points in a shortest way.
The spatial development of the park is implementing with small architectural elements with light steel structures and simple forms in bright color. These forms are randomly scattered in the green open areas.
Coming from the required needs of the competition, the elements have these functions: pavilion for events, playground for children, wallholla playground, labyrinth of tubes, small amphitheater, labyrinth of tubes, green wall/climbing wall and curving table from metallic sheet.
With this proposal, we create a park that has access from 4 sides, has diffuse functional development, and free green zones.
