One issue I came across when creating my compassion is cutting out the fur of the animals using a mask. In order to remember how to cut out hair from DID 1 I went to the YouTube channel and watched the tutorial. The tutorial showed how to make a selection then use refine edges to make a more accurate selection. By following the tutorial I remembered how to cut out hair and fur. This helped define my animals better.
Another issue I had while creating my composition was making the whole composition look like it was night instead of day. To get this affect I added a few adjustment layers. I added a channel mixer layer setting my red to -28, blue to +133 and constant to -14 and set the layer opacity at 22%. Then I added a hue/saturation layer setting hue at 215, saturation at 100, and lightness at -70 and made the layer opacity 39%. Then I copied the hue/saturation layer. These adjustments allowed the composition to be darker and not as warm.
Also, I had trouble making the animals look like they belong. All the animals were either too bright or the wrong lighting color. To make them blend in to the forest I added shadows and a photo filter to the sleeping African wild dog. To make the shadows I turned down the opacity of my paint brush and used a hardness of 0. I then would Ctrl+click on the mask of the animal I was working with to get a selection and use the paint brush to make the shadows.
