In IED Milano la creatività non si rifiuta a nessuno! Essa, infatti, è diventata l’indiscussa protagonista anche del progetto di riorganizzazione della raccolta differenziata messo in atto dall’istituto e gestito dal Green Office IED Milano. Nel mese di aprile 2021 sono stati acquistati 38 nuovi contenitori Strip di Urban 360° per la corretta raccolta di carta, plastica, metallo, organico e rifiuti indifferenziati ad uso delle varie sedi dell'Istituto.
At IED Milano, creativity is not refused to anyone! In fact, it has also become the undisputed protagonist of the reorganization project of separate waste collection implemented by the institute and managed by the Green Office IED Milan. Un team composto da sei studentesse del corso di Graphic Design*, coordinate dal docente e designer Paolo Proserpio ha progettato la nuova identità grafica e il linguaggio identificativo per le differenti tipologie di rifiuto. Un sistema di icone proprietario IED Milano per parlare un linguaggio comune su questo tema così importante. Il nuovo sistema di Wayfinding parte dall’utilizzo del logo IED, linguaggio già presente nella mente di tutti, e lo trasforma sfruttando la sua grande forza identitaria su differenti simboli. Una linea continua che crea dei pieni e dei vuoti ricrea in modo astratto la sagoma degli oggetti da conferire nell’apposito contenitore. Il risultato si rivela molto forte, dall’impatto immediato e ben riconoscibile anche a distanza per utilizzare correttamente i contenitori. Questo sistema sarà da oggi utilizzato per i contenitori posti nei luoghi interni dell'Istituto Europeo di Design di Milano.

A team of six students from the Graphic Design course *, coordinated by the teacher and designer Paolo Proserpio, designed the new graphic identity and the identification language for the different types of waste. An IED unique icon system to speak a common language on this very important issue. The new Wayfinding system is inspired from the shapes of the IED logo, a language already present in everyone's mind, and transforms it by exploiting its great identity strength on different symbols. A continuous line that creates solids and voids abstractly recreates the shape of the objects to be placed in the special container. The result is very strong, with an immediate impact and easily recognizable even from a distance to use the containers correctly. This system will now be used for the containers placed in the internal areas of the European Institute of Design in Milan.

The WASTEWORLD Art Project

20 contenitori destinati ai cortili delle sedi IED Milano sono diventati oggetto di un progetto creativo curato da artisti e designer (tutti studenti, alumni e docenti di IED*) che li hanno personalizzati rendendo i vari elementi unici e differenti tra loro. Ciascun artista ha rivestito un contenitore con la propria opera e creatività e tramite il loro coinvolgimento e grazie al loro talento, hanno preso vita tante storie diverse che raccontano la visione del mondo di ciascuno (sempre rispettando i colori dello standard UNI 11686 sui Waste Visual Elements).
I contenitori sono divenuti quindi non più semplici raccoglitori della differenziata ma una vera e propria
“esibizione permanente” intitolata “WasteWorld” che IED si augura possa, attraverso la sua forza comunicativa, sensibilizzare maggiormente verso l’importanza del corretto smaltimento e riciclo dei rifiuti e
del corretto comportamento sostenibile da tenere ogni giorno anche riguardo ai piccoli gesti individuali, che,
sommati tutti insieme, possono fare una bella differenza (differenziata) nella salvaguardia del nostro pianeta.

20 waste bins destined for the courtyards of the IED Milan offices have become the subject of a creative project curated by artists and designers (all students, alumni and teachers of IED*) who have personalized them making the various elements unique and different from each other. Each artist has covered the bin with their own work and creativity and through their involvement and thanks to their talent, many different stories have come to life that tell everyone's vision of the world (always respecting the colors of the UNI 11686 standard on Waste Visual Elements ).
The containers have therefore become no longer simple bins for the differentiated but a real one "Permanent exhibition" entitled "WasteWorld" which IED hopes will, through its communicative power, raise awareness of the importance of proper disposal and recycling of waste and correct sustainable behavior to be kept every day also with regard to small individual gestures, which,

Troviamo così un intero condominio fatiscente abitato da strani personaggi e animali, oppure i mostricciattoli della monezza; c’è chi ha pensato all’ossessione delle mosche per la spazzatura e addirittura chi le mosche le ha sezionate, scomposte e ricreate magnificamente a ricordare che tutto, comunque può essere trasformato. E ancora troviamo un personaggio come “Mr Indifferenzio” (ma si chiama così perché è indifferente a tutto e a tutti o invece perché dedito totalmente all’indifferenziata?), e poi ancora illustrazioni con le emoticon che sorridono ai rifiuti, i pesciolini bianchi e grigi che chiedono all’uomo di smettere di inquinare il loro habitat naturale. Qualcuno ha personalizzato il contenitore con delle preghiere dirette a madre natura o addirittura con poesie e canzoni dedicate ai più sensibili o agli abbandonati.
Altri raccontano storie di rifiuti che impiegano tantissimi anni per degradarsi, e che chiedono di reincarnarsi in un altro oggetto quasi a voler comunicare a chi li ha usati, che potrebbero diventare anche qualcos’altro attraverso il riuso o l’upcycling. Altre bellissime illustrazioni di diversi colori, ritraggono strani personaggi che attendono di “ingoiare il rifiuto”o animali che salutano affettuosamente il sole come il nostalgico pinguino che è rimasto da solo sull’ultimo pezzo di ghiacciaio che ancora non si è sciolto; o ancora, magnifiche creature del bosco che abbracciano i cervi e che ricordano all’uomo che esiste sempre la possibilità di vivere in armonia con la natura. Infine, troviamo anche illustrazioni che ci rammentano che possiamo sempre utilizzare gli oggetti più volte, possiamo dar loro ancora vita o persino un nuovo utilizzo, trattarli con cura e farli così durare più a lungo.
Perché:

Someone has personalized the container with prayers directed to mother nature or even with poems and songs dedicated to the most sensitive or the abandoned. Others tell stories of waste that take many years to degrade, and which ask to be reincarnated in another object as if to communicate to those who used them, which could also become something else through reuse or upcycling. Other beautiful illustrations in different colors, depict strange characters waiting to "swallow the waste" or animals that greet the sun affectionately like the nostalgic penguin who is left alone on the last piece of glacier that has not yet melted; or again, magnificent woodland creatures that hug deer and remind man that there is always the possibility of living in harmony with nature. Finally, we also find illustrations that remind us that we can always use objects several times, we can give them still life or even a new use, treat them with care and thus make them last longer. because: WASTE IS NOT WASTE UNTILL YOU WASTE IT!
