This hand woven scarf was inspired by my three sisters - their unique personalities and our common bond of sisterhood. I hand dyed natural cotton yarn using a space dye method to use as my weft. Three different skeins were dyed based on three different, but related color schemes, each one corresponding to to one of my sisters and meant to reflect a characteristic of their personality or role in our familial bond. I used more of the same cotton yarn, this time undyed, to prepare an 8-harness floor loom for weaving following a selected weave draft.

As I wove, each section of dyed weft was carefully blended with the next so as to give the appearance of one cohesive piece made up of the three distinguishable parts. After the desired length of cloth was woven, I cut it off of the loom and sewed the two ends of the piece together to make an infinity scarf.
