I have applied self-direction and independence to define and solve visual problems by first if I couldn’t figure out how to do something I looked up tutorials and saw what other people were doing to fix their problems. I used tutorials to answer questions as well as to find new ways to create the desired look or effect for my projects. The tutorials helped a lot especially when it came to the sculptris project at the end. The software was new to me so I had to figure out how to use it.
Another way that I applied independence to my projects is playing around with different tools to see what they created when combined with another. This occurred a lot in the sculptris project because it was new software so I played around with the different buttons to see what they did to the piece. This is using independence because I did this alone. I used this to solve visual problems by using the new methods I discovered to make it visually unique and creative.
The final way I applied self- direction and independence throughout the trimester is I thought of something I would like to put in a project basically a main idea I wanted to push through my work. I looked on pinterest to find ways other people showed and used the idea I wanted. I then used the inspirations to then figure how I wanted to portray my idea and if I wanted to go off of what other people were doing. If I wanted to go off of what other people were using I would figure out how I could use my own technique to make it my work.
