SMART ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING: "HELBAWI BROS' " RICE BAG

“What plastic bags kill, rice bags will save.”

I chose to work on The “made in Lebanon” Helbawi Bros’ 5 kg rice bag, where the structural and visual aspects of the product were revamped. In a world where consumers are becoming more aware of sustainability issues, it is important to focus on upcycling packages, especially those of large package production. Recently almost every supermarket is working on shifting their shopping bags from nylon bags to recyclable or made out of fabric ones because people got more environmentally aware and are thriving to save what they originally damaged. We are starting to use eco-friendly products to protect mother nature.
Helbawi Bros’ rice bag comes in a nylon bag that will be directly thrown after usage, rather than the fact that the label itself is not visually appealing, including the color palette, layout, and typical information used. Knowing that the competition is fierce on the shelves when it comes to selling rice (especially with imported goods), it is a need to reflect flashy concepts and visuals to call for the attention of the consumers.
Visually, the name of the brand always rings a bell among Lebanese citizenships, while not being familiar with the logo without the name, so I maintained the name in the lifted version to ensure product recognition. On the other hand, the product will be packaged sustainably by changing the structural package. The bag is ready to be used as a shopping bag once its done being used as a container. The small-sized bag of 5kg will be sealed with a thread, which will change into a larger one when the tread is cut. The material used will be gunny fabric that is suitable for shopping because of its firmness.

“What plastic bags kill, rice bags will save.”

Rice is born in water and goes back to water at the end (when being cooked), so water is like a mother to rice. Nowadays, plastic bags are thrown in the water, leading to the death of many species like turtles, seagulls,...
So by using eco-friendly rice bags instead of nylon ones, you are saving those creatures, hence you are saving the element that made the growth of rice possible.
