Camron Bytheway's Architecture Portfolio

All of this work was done by myself, The course I chose had no type of Art concept whatsoever, so I everything I have done was done during my free time as I have a passion and really want to be an architect. I am dedicating the whole of the summer to take classes and learn online to improve my artistic skills so I will be ready and more than up to standard when the school year starts.
This sketch was inspired by a show I watch called grand-designs, I didn't design this myself but I thought it was really cool and tried my best to make it look as similar as possible. I was intrigued by the different shapes of the building and I decided to draw it because these are the type of buildings could see myself creating in the future.
I apologies that the drawings are all the wrong way around, I didn't have a lot of time to submit my portfolio and wasn't familiar with behance. This was the first drawing I attempted, it is meant to be more of a modern design. This was inspired by a house I saw in the bournemouth/poole area and I decided to take a picture and draw it up when I got home.
Here I drew up the floor plans of my current workplace “The Funki Griller” which is a stake house restaurant. I made two drawings, one being the existing staff rooms and kitchen, and an updated restaurant floor plan which consisted of changes to the bar and table layout, the restaurant took inspiration to the new layout and it will be used after June 21st once social distancing requirements aren’t as strict as it allows more customers to be seated at once.
This drawing was my attempt to create a two story modern building. This structure inspired me by the different shapes and angles of the building. I also have passion for creating sustainable structures, this building allows a lot of natural light meaning less artificial light will be needed within the building which is more environmentally friendly.
This drawing/sketch was inspired by "The Treasury Department" building in Washington D.C. I tried my best to free hand draw this building without using anything but a pencil and rubber, this drawing doesn’t look even or wouldn’t be used for any plans whatsoever, but it was my attempt to learn how to quickly sketch what I am seeing with nothing but paper and and a pencil, I will keep practicing throughout the summer until I get to a point where my drawings are a lot neater and to a higher standard.
This drawing was included as I believe it shows that I have an understanding of extensions ,conversations and adaption. Here I created a very basic drawing showing how I would turn a very common two story property and add an extension that would add value to the property. This is the type of work I see myself doing in the future, as I would love to be able to design my own extensions, conversions and adaptions to add value to my own properties with designs I created myself.
This drawing was an inspired by another building I saw in my local area, this building was still in the construction phase and was half built, I decided to implement my own features and predict the style and out outcome of what I believe the building should have looked like when it was ready to be handed over to the client.
This drawing was inspired by my favorite boxer "Erol Spence Jr", Here I created the background the same way I stated above. I then found a picture of Erol Spence Jr and drew him in black and white using a sharpie. I then used an online website to show me what my drawing would look like framed.
This project consisted of me measuring the distances between walls, measuring windows, doors, pipes and more. These elevations are the front and back view of my college (Weymouth College) I took pictures and made various measurements using tape measures and laser measures and more. I then took all the measurements of the building and created accurate front and back plans/elevations of the college using AutoCAD.
This drawing and floor plan consisted of side elevations and the floor plan of my classroom at Weymouth College. Here I used different measuring techniques to make an accurate room plan for where I did my studies. I took measurements onto a notepad and transferred them onto AutoCAD which allowed me to create exact and accurate drawings of the room. In addition I used the hatching tool to make it more clear of what was within the walls, making it easier to identify windows, doors and bricks.
This work was assigned for my Level 2 AutoCAD qualification, Here I showed the steps I took to make the end/final design easier. I created plans for the front of the car, the door and wheels, this allowed me to just add minor amendments to them for the final drawing when they were needed.
This development plan was inspired by the lack of accessibility disabled and old people have. Therefore I created a plan that had more than 5 properties within a small proximity, features I decided to add where AstroTurf gardens, ramps, hand rails, stair elevators and career rooms. This allowed the individuals who would own these types of properties to be able to use their home like anyone else would. In addition I also attempted to make a location and site plan which would show a project manager how they would layout and plan this disabled development.
This piece of art was inspired by my football team that I support (Arsenal) During my spare time I bought paint, glue, a frame and several packs of Mentos. This picture consisted of me putting hundreds of normal white Mentos into different colour paints and placing them into the correct spaces by following the plan I created, I then glued them in place and aligned them so I could put it up on my wall. I think this piece of art shows creativity, and I believe doing things like this would help me create visual presentations for my course in the future (like concept designs)
These pictures were made out of acrylic paint, glue fairy liquid and oil. These materials were then dropped a blank canvas and a tilting and turning technique was used to spread the paint across the board to create a different background each time. I then used fairy washing up liquid on some of the paintings to create the black lines and patterns to make each design even more unique. I then used an online website that allowed me to take little segments of the best parts of each picture, and then frame them to see what they would look like if I was to put them onto my wall.
These pieces of art are called “thumbnails” and are used on YouTube to get views to click on videos that look attractive and intriguing. There isn’t much of a diversity within these thumbnails however it was what the customer who pays me weekly for my service requests, and he was more than happy with what I produced, This shows my skills on Photoshop, although they are not building related the methods, tools and techniques can be applied to anything.
These were the very brief and basic idea I was given by my boss, I then put them onto photoshop and created a design that met the criteria he requested. Which can be seen below. I believe this shows that I can turn a "clients Ideas" into a type of concept design which is a skill you need within this industry.
This LOGO, menu and instruction card was created an used for my bosses new business Wickied Wellies. This made his business look more professional and allowed many customers to know exactly what to do, and what was inside what they were buying. This online graphical design was self taught and shows my ability to pick up technology and equipment independently, I believe this skill will help me with this course as I would have already developed some skills and techniques that can be used for my coursework.
Thank you for reading and looking through my portfolio, I apologies for the layout of the portfolio and the lack of designs and quality, Everything I have shown was done on my own during my free time and I had no help or advice from any schools, colleges or teachers, I will ensure to tighten up and improve my standard of drawing throughout the summer so I’m ready and prepared for the course.
