Factory Farms
_____________________
According to the ASPCA factory farms are large, industrial operations that raise large numbers of animals for food. Over 95% of farm animals in the U.S. are raised in factory farms, which focus on profit and efficiency at the expense of animal welfare.
I created this book to help illustrate the suffering of animals on factory farms. From the typography and page layout all the way through to the binding and carrying case, each element emphasizes the commercial and cruel nature of factory farming. The copy for this book was obtained from a 2009 Humane Society United States (HSUS) Report, The Welfare of Animals in the Meat, Egg, and Dairy Industries. Custom stamp and typography, hand-drawn illustrations, hand-sewn coptic binding, and custom carrying crate were created.
