Seward Park, Seattle
Main entry to older craftsman house in Seward Park Neighborhood.
What a lot of things going on at the front door!
The old entry to the house opened onto a busy intersection, and the concrete walk lead not to the front door but to the back yard.  This entry stair was removed and new plants fill the corner to make a private entry yard.
Salvaged brick and new varigated bluestone create a generous pathway to the new front landing and give guests coming and going plenty of space to look at the new garden.  Now, the pathway to the backyard ties into the new landing as a secondary path rather than a primary one.
Now, a much cleaner inviting look both coming in and going out the main entrance.
A new metal handrail built to code, replaces the old version that was too short and lighter weight.  The metal posts were grouted into the old concrete stair.
