Graphic Designers can go to several different places to find ideas for their artwork. They can get inspiration from books, music, and there are several websites on the internet such as Pinterest and Behance that allow graphic designers to find inspiration they need. One source of inspiration a designer could use is by using a database for images like Everystockphoto or Stock Xchng. These websites contain several images that you can make variations of to make the product you want. Another source of inspiration a designer could use is Pinterest or Behance. These websites are full of inspiration and works from other artists that could help a designer portray the message to the audience he wants to make the product for. One final source of inspiration a designer could use is looking at packaged products in the grocery store. He could use already developed packaged products and use their design to brainstorm a work of his own. Two advantages for using a database for images such as Everystockphoto or Stock Xchng are that there is a wide selection of images to choose from and everything you need to cite your sources is right there along with the picture so there is no hassle looking for the photographer. A disadvantage for using these databases is that some of the pictures are licensed and cannot be modified or put into one’s work. Two advantages for using Pinterest or Behance is that they are online communities of artists who share their works in an attempt to inspire people who analyze their work. Another advantage is that you can post your own work on the website and see what other artists think of your work. A disadvantage for using these websites is that you cannot use others’ works as your own and there are consequences if you do modify someone’s work into your own. Two advantages of looking at packaged products in the grocery store are that the packages there are advanced and are well-known on the market. Another advantage is that packaged products at the grocery store have many different color schemes and effect you can incorporate into your own work. A disadvantage of looking at packaged products at the grocery store is that most of the packages are copyrighted and any plagiarism you concur could result in a lawsuit.
