So here’s a watch. What’s so special about a watch? If it was just a watch, then there really isn’t anything special about it. But there is something special about this watch. So what makes it special? This watch was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator. So the concept and idea was to create a photorealistic, entirely vector image that can be used in magazines, on websites, and in ads or commercials. The reason for this is because vectors are lossless, so no matter how much you zoom in or out, it won’t pixelate.
When I did my sketches, Instead of drawing the entire watch over and over again with small different modifications, I decided to take different pieces of the watch (like the clock hands), and figure out how they were connected or what the shapes were like.
After I had gotten to a draft stage, I decided to turn it loose on the masses and ask some people for feedback on it. The suggestions I got were very helpful, letting me see what was missing and so on. So some of the feedback I got was to add a lot more highlights and shadows. I did just that meticulously combing over every bit of the watch, adding things as needed and refining.
So here is the final product. The project (or endeavor if you will) took me a great deal of time to work on and complete. And I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. Looking at this, I do really think it would work really well as a display image in a magazine or something like it.
