Death Pauses for a Moment
-
Throughout the various mediums of art, Death is always represented as a dark and ominous figure - always scheming or lurking in the shadows. In this illustration, Death is illustrated as a calmer figure, enjoying a light and contemplative moment with a small bird, while on the way to collect his next soul, in a paradise of flowers.
The illustration questions the possibility that maybe we fear and loathe Death without fully understanding the nature of it's existence. Maybe the beauty of existence resonates so deeply in our bones, because we know we are only dealt limited time. Our existence is fleeting, and we use this to ascribe meaning to our lives.
Maybe Death isn't a vicious fiend, waiting for us to make a mistake, or grab us when we aren't looking. Maybe Death is a Philosopher - waiting, with open arms, to help make our passing easier.
