Quebec's Eastern Townships / Part 2

The historical Eastern Townships region has greatly evolved over the past few decades. Today, this tourist region that is home to several British, American and French Canadian traditions is divided into several sub-regions such as the Estrie, the Montérégie, and the Appalachian Uplands.

In two parts, Quebec’s Eastern Townships – A Brief History of its Peoples, Politics and Economy tells the story of the region’s unique history and lets you discover its past. What do Americans have to do with the region’s development, what is the story behind the lone pine in the Saint Francis River and what is the Irish Loyal Orange Lodge doing in the Townships? While part one, published in 2019, focuses on the early days of the Eastern Townships, part two gives an overview of 15 important topics relating to the 20th century.
Both publications are available in French and English.
