Wall Art project @ CHILD.ORG
CHILD.org is home founded in the year 2005 mainly to offer protection to children who are stigmatised and burdened by the fact that they are from families with HIV/AIDS or abandoned children or destitute children. This project provides a home like environment with complete emotional and psychological support besides nurturing the talents within each child. Now they have 40 children at CHILD home who are being supported by financial aid for their education and also being supported in meeting their other basic amenities.
Dr Anand Anandkumar, Ph.D, The managing trustee of CHILD and Mr Senthil Kumar, Founder Trustee, together runs this home successfully for over 15 years now. I was sponsored by the Trustees and Jatayu, an NGO for Children welfare to work on this Art project. It was a fun filled colourful experience, since I always had children around me and the volunteers from the NGO who supported me to get this work done in a short span of time.
The designs were chosen based on multiple factors like the children's gender, age, interests, and other psychological factors. I have included a couple of sports theme design which the boys are interested and play often in the near by playground. I have also included a design to improve the children's story telling hobby with a Roadmap representation. Some walls are filled with abstract designs just to improve the kids creativity and give a colourful vibration to the space. Also, there is a custom wall design made for the kids to measure their height on a regular basis. It's proven that when a Kid's space is filled with colours, their cognitive motors are supposed to function very well.
