Publishing a Zine for TSPTR on the Theme of Activism

This was a formative brief set by my tutors. As a group, we had to create, publish and exhibit a printed and digital zine to connect with and grow TSPTR’s younger female audience using an activism-related theme.

My role was to conduct research around the role of activism and its impact on the brand. I created mood boards called ‘Activism throughout the years’ and ‘Activism through art’.
Since our target audience were women, the group unanimously decided to focus on Women’s Safety as our activism theme. It is one issue that ties every woman together and creates a sense of shared experience.

My concept was called ‘Red Riot’. It was inspired by the frustrating anger women feel and how tiring the safety precautions women take is. I chose the colour red because it is an extremely passionate yet dangerous colour. It could signify sensuality, but also rage. The concept was an attempt to take back the control over our bodies.
To further spread awareness about how street harassment frustrates and traumatises women, I also created illustrations using impactful one-liners to include in the zine. They were created keeping in mind the potential to be used to tie the brand TSPTR and the theme together.
