Combined with an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, this disconnect from nature negatively impacts both physical and emotional health. Additionally, children who have no relationship to nature will be unlikely to prioritize conservation or sustainable land use in the future.

Through its More Kids in the Woods program, the Forest Service organizes trips to the forest and creates downtown green spaces that brings the forest directly to kids.
