Your Safety Depends on the Tyres You Use. Choose Wisely!

A vehicle performs because all of its components and systems work together in harmony. A small glitch or error in any one of them can cause major damages. You may even find yourself surrounded by expensive repairs. Tyres and wheels are vital for a car’s functioning. Their primary job is to deliver smooth and comfortable performance.

The function of tyres

Tyres start their performance as soon as the engine is turned on. They are constantly on the move till you apply the brakes. Like other major car components, Goodyear Tyres works endlessly to keep the car moving. They uniformly hold and carry the weight of an entire vehicle. You can imagine how heavy a car is. The best of the tyres are those which deliver convenient drives with the least pressure.

The only contact point of the car and road is also made by the tyres. They ensure that the right amount of traction is produced while you drive. You need a strong and appropriate grip to hold the road firmly. Overall, the tyres perform many functions that are crucial for consistent vehicle performance.

Tyres and your safety

When a tyre suddenly blows out, it can put you in a lot of trouble. After a heavy puncture or blowout, the vehicle loses its stability. This becomes a huge risk when you are driving at high speed on a highway full of traffic. The chances of road collisions and accidents increase rapidly. Good-quality tyres that are made of fine and strong rubber have the ability to resist punctures.

Materials used in making a tyre

Rubber, as we know, is the major substance used in manufacturing tyres. Tyres were made only from rubber in the early days. But today, carbon black and silica are also used to make tyres. A combination of these three materials is used to make the tread compound. They add elasticity, flexibility, and strength to the tyre. Other materials like metal, steel, plastic, and polymers are also used in the manufacturing process.

Different types of tyres

Run Flat tyres: To save the drivers from punctures and the hassle of puncture repair, these tyres were developed. A run-flat tyre can retain the air pressure for 50 to 100 miles. You can easily find help while driving with a punctured run-flat. The tread compound of a run-flat tyre has multiple rubber layers attached to each other using strong adhesives. These layers trap the layer so it doesn’t leave the surface altogether.

Performance tyres: Designed for high-end sports vehicles, Performance tyres are used for extra performance. They are more responsive than the standard tyres. Performance tyres deliver excellent traction and grip on different road types.

Summer, winter, and All-Season tyres: Summer tyres are used when the temperature rises above 7 degrees.

Winter Tyres Bracknell  are made for snow and ice. They are used when the temperature goes below 7 degrees.

All-Season tyres are suitable for summer and winter seasons as long as the seasonal change is mild and moderate.
