Mother and Child

This picture is really nice and gives out a lot of compassion and happiness of a typical mother and child relationship. The smiles on their face really expressed these authentic emotions of joy and love that they have for each other. Also, the bond between the two can be seen as the mother is hugging her child.

MOTHER AND CHILD 2 (2012)
(Gustav Klimt Approach)
This is the second painting for the project. Initially, I was inpisred by the use of beautiful and attrative use of gold colour schemes in Gustav Klimt's paintings. Hence, it triggered the idea of employing his use of colours and concepts into my work. This composition of this piece was inspired from Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer I (1907), together with the faces of a real mother and child that I took during her visit to my school:
The background was done by painting it firstly with Burnt Umber, and after waiting for it to dry, gold paint was dabbed continuously to create a pattern.
Each of the materials on the dress is a symbolism for the theme of mother and child. After doing some researches, I went out to an arts and crafts shop to buy the materials needed.
I sticked them using glue gun.
Here, there are 2 sides of the dress: one side with bright yellow roses and one side with old, wilted roses.
This means, the young, bright roses represent the youth and beauty of the mother. But as time passes by, her beauty will fade away, and eventually, becomes old, as represented by the use of the wilted roses.
This is the Tree of Life. Represents for the eternality of the relationship and vitality of the mother to the child.
The blue ocean = The child.
The child's dress is bright blue, with an ocean on the bottom. This symbol represents the child as a wide ocean with big waves that the Mother cannot always control him.
It was done using the palette knife.
Infinity symbols = infinity of mother's love
