Background

Neutro(New + Retro) gives Generation X a happy nostalgia for their youth, makes the MZ Generation feel a foreign rustic they've never experienced before, meets the needs of two generations. It's quickly becoming a trend across all sectors. The music sector is also influenced by Newtro, and the demand and sales of CDs and LPs are increasing as some popular singers release LP and CD records as well as streaming services.

뉴트로는 X 세대에게는 행복했던 청춘시절의 향수를 느끼게 해주고, MZ 세대에게는 경험해 본 적 없는 이질적인 촌스러움을 느끼게 하면서 두 세대의 니즈를 충족시켜 모든 분야를 걸쳐 빠르게 유행이 되고 있습니다. 음악 부분도 역시 뉴트로의 영향을 받아 몇몇 인기가수들이 스트리밍 서비스 뿐만아니라 LP와 CD음반을 내면서 CD와 LP의 수요와 판매량이 증가하는 상황입니다.

However, the album has changed from a concept of 'play' to a concept of 'owning'. It has become an interior accessory, not a purpose of listening to the sound by playing it. there are people who piled up albums in their homes when LP and CD were in vogue, LP and CD are useless, but they can't afford to throw them away.

하지만, 음반이 ‘재생’의 개념에서 ‘소유’의 개념으로 변화하여, 재생을 시켜 소리를 듣는 목적이 아닌, 인테리어 소품으로 전락해버렸습니다. 또한, LP와 CD가 유행했을 적에 수집해놨던 앨범들을 집 안에 쌓아두고, 쓸모는 없지만 버리자니 아까워 버리지도 못하는 사람들이 대다수였습니다.

Solution

I planned an all-in-one turntable that can play CDs on existing analog LP turntable and conveniently use streaming services. The LP cartridge header incorporates the laser principle of reading CD data so that LP and CD can be read in a single cartridge. The middle part of the platter was designed considering the actual size of LP and CD records so that the two albums can be fixed by digging a groove to the size of the CD.

기존의 아날로그식 LP 턴테이블에 CD도 재생시킬 수 있고, 편리하게 스트리밍 서비스까지 이용할수 있는 올 인원 턴테이블을 기획하였습니다. LP 카트리지 헤더에는 CD데이터를 읽어내는 레이저원리를 접목시켜 하나의 카트리지로 LP,CD를 읽어낼 수 있도록 하고, 플래터의 중간부분에는 CD의 크기만큼 홈을 파서 두 음반을 고정시킬 수 있도록 실제 LP,CD음반의 사이즈를 고려하였습니다.

Analog mode / Turntable (LP)

After switching to analog mode, Insert the LP into the middle fixing pin. Turn the power button to On. The needle on the cartridge header moves the fine groove of the LP plate according to the strength of the goal. The movement of the needle is turned into an electrical signal, transferred to the speaker and regenerated.

아날로그모드로 모드변환 후, 가운데 고정핀에 LP를 끼운 후, 전원 버튼을 On으로 돌리면, 카트리지 헤더에 달려있는 바늘이 LP 판의 미세한 홈을 골의 강약에 따라 바늘이 움직이며, 바늘의 움직임이 전기신호로 바뀌어 스피커로 전달되며 재생이 됩니다.

Digital mode / CD player (CD)

After switching to digital mode, Turn the CD upside down and secure it in a grooved platter. Turn the power button to On. So, Cartridge header shoot a laser at the front of the cartridge header onto the CD surface. It receives a laser that reflects differently depending on the presence of the groove, reads digital signals, and plays them.

디지털모드로 모드변환 후, CD를 홈이 파인 플래터 안으로 뒤집어 고정시키고, 전원 버튼을 On으로 돌리면, 카트리지 헤더의 앞부분에서 CD 표면에 레이저를 쏘아 홈의 유무에 따라 다르게 반사되는 레이저를 수신해서 디지털 신호를 읽어들이며 재생이 됩니다.
