With the initial project of creating an 'Inspired' vector illustration placed into my working hands, I started looking at popular artists within the vector community. I came upon Tom Whalen's work in my search and instantly fell in love. With popular culture inspired vector illustrations, the style caught my attention with it's limited colour pallet and shape orientated shading techniques.

Using Procreate (App), I lined out the basis for my illustration idea. While I considered doing an illustration with characters more recognisable, I saw this as a good opportunity to create a piece for my own stories that I was developing at the time of the project. Uno (The Robot), and Aster (The human), are an inherently linked pair. They share the same body but not the same mind. Using this concept, I developed the following linework in my own illustration style.
INITIALISING - STAND BY...
Once the draft line art was complete, the transfer to Adobe Illustrator began. I applied the limited colour pallet idea and attempted to replicate the shading style so often used within Tom Whalen's pieces. The result is as you can see below! I had a lot of fun creating this piece and look forward to improving and creating more technical pieces in the future!
