Palacio Del Inka Branding

THE STORY

Palacio del Inka is a storied mansion that dates back to nearly five centuries. Located in the historic center of Cusco, Peru, this five star hotel emerges in what was once the Incan palace of the Sun. Due to this historical background and rich history of Peruvian culture, This redesign encapsulates the culture of Cusco, Peru while maintaining that luxurious feel of a five star hotel combining both tradition and modernity.

LOGO SKETCHES

To understand the result of the final logotype, there were many variations of sketches that I had to develop to have a general concept of what I wanted to design. From the variations I was more focused on typography and choosing the right typeface that reflected the style of Peruvian culture. As shown in the sketches, I was playing around with monograms and symbols tied to Peruvian culture, integrating them with the typography.
The final two sketches shown were done in greater detail since those were the two directions that I was headed. From these two sketches, I ended up choosing the logotype opposed to the monogram since that direction allowed for a more luxurious route while incorporating Peruvian culture.

COLOR PALETTE

The color choices made were to reflect the history of Peru and a nod to the hotel itself. The gold color is representative of the actual gold which is seen in most Inka artifacts since it was common in the region. As for the navy blue, the color reflects the hotel since the color blue appears to be the most common color within the hotel, fitting it’s brand.
