My chosen artist is Sara Bareilles, which also happens to be one of my favorite singer of all time.
I decided to re-design her Kaleidoscope Heart album (2010) which consists of my favored songs of her.

 

I pick the blue and green gradient colors to define her carefree and joyful personality while keeping the design as simple as possible so it suits her humble character.

 

 

Here is the three-quarter shot of the CD packaging. As you can see, there are some layers on the sides.
The hexagon on the middle is to represent the kaleidoscope.

Sara Bareilles is famous with her piano skill. She plays the piano in many of her songs.
That is why I purposely put the piano here as one of the CD element.

When you pull the very front layer of the CD packaging, you can see there is an illustration of Sara Bareilles suddenly appear in the middle of it, as if it's playing the piano. I use a pop up concept for this packaging to make it more appealing. But instead of popping up, the picture will rotate up if you pull it.

Here are the album booklet. But instead of making it like a booklet, I decided to separate every single pieces of the booklet. Because most people, after purchasing a new album and take a look of the booklet once or twice, they won't even bother to touch the booklet again afterwards. That's why I made it this way, so people can actually keep the piece of whichever song they prefer the most with Sara Bareilles photo behind it.
