CUSTOMISED #NewBalance Sneakers

New Balance South Africa sent me a pair of their Pro Court basketball sneakers
to customise for a local underground art exhibition.

The concept was to "mutate" the stock Pro Courts.
Bright coral red and neon green to compliment the white and hunter green scheme. Glow in the dark blobs and moulding.
I was inspired by the time of year in which they'd be exhibited, summer's peak: ultra humid air and bright early morning sun.

I replaced the stock laces with Mr Lacy Flatties in Neon Green.

I dripped glow-in-the-dark craft paint on the toe caps to build up a blobby reptilian texture.

After masking off the green portions of the shoe, glow-in-the-dark craft paint was used on the N,
and flicked on the coral sections using an old toothbrush.

I used glow-in-the-dark Fimo clay to sculpt bumpers for the
back of the soles, as well as a beer bottle top keyring.

After about a minute's charging, the shoes glow in low or ultra violet light.
