Octopodal Origins, consists of sculptures, installations and photographs that use both sea creatures and obsolete technological components, by pairing dead, store-bought fish, octopus, crab and lobsters with items such as old computer motherboards, VCR circuitry and cathode tube televisions. In each work, I fabricate a fictional narrative that employs elements of reality-based science, such as marine biology, electro-reception, energy consumption and ecological sustainability, with pseudo-sciences such as galvanism, vitalism, and new fictional technologies. The core of my thesis is an attempt to emphasize the duality between organic and inorganic mechanisms by creating a dialogue with ephemeral marine life and technology. This is the quest upon controlling the underwater beast, life, energy, and the pursuit of the unknown. Read Less
