We cannot put something into action just because we know it’s the right thing to do.

We should all quit smoking, drink less alcohol, eat more vegetables and take up jogging. We should treat everybody else with kindness and help out those in need. We should learn to live moderately and spend less so we can actually save some money or give some up for donation. We should actively participate in politics. We should all spend less time on our smartphones and comic books, and more time on meaningful and educating books. We should engage in volunteer activity. And we should avoid having sex so carefully, and when we do have sex, we should always wear a condom!

These pieces of advice may not be wrong, but are nightmarishly horrible. They are utterly disgusting. We should feel embarrassed about not doing something we know is right, but it’s no solution to bury someone with a pile of what is considered to be “right”. First of all, I hate enlightenment.
It’s foolish to try to manipulate some into doing things to your liking. Unless it’s a violation of the law, everybody should be free to make their own choices.

So, I am not trying to urge people to wear a condom just because it’s the right thing to do. Urging such thing probably won’t bear much fruit anyway. I simply think condoms are a beautiful product with their unique forms, texture and colors as well ffas the fact that they are seen as being vulgar even though they are a medical product.

And, of course, they prove themselves useful when you have sex. I hear that made-in-Japan condoms are especially highly regarded. I just want to ask young people today, “Hey, it’s pink! Isn’t that cool?” as I’m sure they are already familiar with the usefulness of condoms.

今すぐタバコはやめて酒を控え、野菜をメインに食べてジョギングに出かけた方がいい。そしてどの人にも優しく接し困っている人が居たら声を掛けて助けてあげるべきだ。日々慎みをもって暮らし出費を抑えて貯蓄や寄付に回し、政治にも積極的に関心を持って参加するべきだ。あと、漫画やスマホばかり眺めていないでもっとためになる本を読んだりボランティアもした方がいい。それから安易なSEXは避けて、それでも致す時には必ずコンドームを使用するように！

これらの助言は一つも間違ってはいないだろうけど、まるで悪夢のように怖ろしい。全くもってウンザリだ。正しいのはわかっていてやらないことは恥じ入るばかりではあるが、正しさで埋め尽くすだけでは何の解決にもならないだろう。だいたい私は啓蒙なんてものは嫌いだ。誰かを自分の意に沿うように仕向けるなんてことは馬鹿気ている。犯罪などでない限りあらゆる選択は自由だ。

だから安易に正しいからといってコンドームの着用を促したいわけでもない。そしてもし促したとしても簡単に成果は上がらないはずだ。私はコンドームの特異なフォルムや質感、医療品でありながらキッチュなキャラクター性、独自の色彩感覚なんかが単純にプロダクトとして美しいと思う。

それでいてSEXの時に役に立つし、ジャパンメイドは評価も高いという。どうだ、ピンクでカッコいいだろう？と、ちょっとだけ若者に聞いてみたい。コンドームの有用性くらい、彼らはすでに知っているのだから。
