Most health food product branding focuses on the Earth as though eating organic food is more for the planet's sake than it's people. Owner Yoko Inoue is passionate about the benefits of a raw and organic food diet and has long sought to distill the benefits of many kinds of food philosophies. Shokuiku (translating from Japanese as Food Education) also holds regular classes for those wanting to prepare raw and living foods.
The branding takes its cues from Japanese minimalism and their attempt to remove what is unnecessary and unhelpful from the equation.
As well as the cafe space, Yoko creates prepackaged foods that adhere to her same philosophies. The branding for these takes the 'Shoku' (food) part of the Shokuiku equation.
