STUDENT WORK, 2021
CacheBar is a bar-hopping scavenger hunting app, think geocaching mixed with cocktails. The user and their team is led on a quest from bar to bar by scanning QR codes at the given locations in order to reach the final destination where a secret event will be held for only those who have completed the challenge. All bars will be in walking distance so as to not encourage drinking while driving, but the app will link to hotels in the area and Uber or Lyft if necessary. The app also includes a GPS team tracker so no one gets left alone at another bar. The user receives a badge every time they have completed a hunt. This app will give people the chance to experience the bar scene and a night out in new ways while having fun in a friendly competition.

The main inspiration for this design is based on treasure maps and topographical maps. A pirate theme seemed fitting since this app combines exploration, hidden treasures (or QR codes), and alcohol. The icons are designed in a similar style to drawn treasure maps with a more sketchy, etched-in look. The backgrounds of the screens are inspired by topographical maps to add texture and go with the exploration theme.
