My senior project involved creating my own personal two-part project that could be based off any creative endeavor involving any type of medium. I decided to create a music magazine called Cadence, the name is based on the ending part of a piece of music. I chose to focus on a very illustrative and color oriented style that would give a semblance of unity and transmit the personal musical style of the artist. All, in all I'm quite happy with how it turned out and had fun making it. The writing material is not my own and is only used for layout purposes. The magazine contains four articles, three full-page ads, and a table of contents page.
The background was created by messing with the code of a jpeg image to create the glitch art effect which I further edited in photoshop to make the multi-color you see. It was really fun experimenting with this because I wasnt entirely sure what I was going to get but I knew it would be interesting.
Green color was a strong theme for Wiz Khalifa as he is a well known stoner so I felt that would be appropiate along with heavy smoke.
I added this purple to this illustration since I felt that Julian transmits a bit of a melancholy vibe in his voice and I felt this color transmits that feeling. The lightning bolts represent the garage rock sound that made The Strokes one of the more popular bands of the early 2000's.
This table of content page differs from the traditional but I feel still transmits to the reader the main articles of interest and entices them to read based on the unique layout and givies a taste of what to expect.
