As I usually do with each new edition of EA's NHL series, I made my own custom team in this year's EA Sports' NHL11. This year, I decided to honor the memory of my late father-in-law (a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba) and reinvent the Winnipeg Jets for 2011 (darker colors, new jersey design etc), name him as the GM and stock it up with my friends and I.

As a challenge to myself as a graphic designer, I decided to make up hockey trading cards of each member of the team. I thought it would be a fun way to test myself with a new creative design project.

The design of the card is based on an old card I saw one. I tried to emulate the style from what I remembered. It was designed in Illustrator.

 I took apart the Winnipeg Jets logo and added some effects to it to make it stand out a bit more, added texturing to the 'blades' at the bottom, and gave a subtle glossy shine on the top left and bottom right corners to reproduce a glossy trading card look.

The character images are simply screenshots from the video game itself. Nothing added or taken away on them.
