My Boombox Project Part.2

It all started in 2010, Cholo asked me to take some pictures of his boombox collection.

While I was looking for an original concept to create a series of pictures under the same theme (instead of single shoots) we thought of introducing Cholo's boomboxes to the daily lives of young ladies who are passionate about music, women who could not live without their favorite toy, their boombox ! That object, whatever they would do during the day, would always be by their sides.

The project looked interesting: good looking girls to recruit, but on top of that, the essential unifying and communicating element the boombox itself. We can't deny that these radio cassette players are cool objects from another era when hip hop was in full effervescence. Everyone gets carried away in their own way with nostalgic thoughts of this beautiful era when music was making it’s way from hand to hand to hand through mixtape to your ears (actual genuine mixtapes on cassettes) mixes recorded live on the radio while doing the impossible to edit out the DJ talking over the beat.

Nowadays, as soon as we take a boombox out for a walk, or a day at the park, we can't help but notice people's faces brighten up, smiling, turning heads to admire these collectible jewels, or just to appreciate the great music. It's especially fun to hear the comments always positive from people who pass by.

So here it is, the whole project started from the passion I have for photography and the one Cholo has for boomboxes, plus the one we both share, Music.

Thank you Cholo
