Usually when  fetal cells are cultivated they will divide between 40 and 60 times in before division stops. It is called Hayflick limit. Each time a cell duplicates, the telomeres (part of DNA on the ends of each chromosome) short slightly. The aging of cell populations appears to correlate with the overall physical aging of an organism.
