EGD: Cleveland Metroparks Signage Plan

This project was an exercise in implementing an environmental graphic design system. I aimed to create a cohesive body of work that would evoke a sense of place for the end user. I chose to expand upon the signage and wayfinding systems present within Beaver Marsh, a reservation residing within Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

My proposed design solution was to add improved orientation and wayfinding systems throughout the reservation by creating a novel set of signage. The aesthetic of my deliverables subscribed to a combination of a natural color palette and a modern approach using geometric forms. The color palette was complemented by its surroundings in that the colors within the selection can all be found in nature. Utilizing geometric forms for the signage helped to create a stark contrast between the signs and their surrounding landscapes. This contrast was done with the intention of helping the end users to more quickly locate, identify, and utilize the information provided on the signs.
