This project is a theorectical project from my university days. It follows a simple brief for a Floating Arts Centre at the Albert Dock in Liverpool. Many of my original drawings were misplaced and having found the initial sketches, I am in the process of re-designing this project.
Now close to qualifiying as an Architect, I find my day to day design work can be defined by many external sources. Therefore my reason for revisiting this project is to sharpen my imagination and improve my design skills with a very much open brief.
The concept is simple. It develops a scheme from simple cubular forms that are identical in plan and section. Through marine engineering the building is kept afloat on the Albert Dock waters, as exemplified in the precedent shown below.
