The Brand

Compass Group plc is a British multinational contract foodservice company headquartered in Chertsey, England. It is the largest contract foodservice company in the world employing over 500,000 people. 


The Ask

Create a Cybersecurity Awareness campaign for the internal teams across different geographies (45 Countries) that communicates and reiterates the need to be Cyber Secure in an increasingly digital world. 


The Need for a Campaign

Employee disposition towards internal emails from support teams is usually low 

General sense of “I am aware” and "This cannot not happen to me" inclination is very high

False sense of bravado or absolutely no knowledge of risks

Shock

• Why : A sense of invulnerability; I am smart so it can't happen to me
• How : Series of communications covering cyber security related losses
• Pop quiz / Did You Know communication to be shared with employees to ensure sensitization


Educate

• Creating awareness through: Superheroes @Compass
• Message from the leadership
• Public areas, screen savers and notice board to be leveraged 
• SPOCS to be created at each region
• Mnemonic characters to be leveraged through out all mediums
• Online education training on all aspects to be made mandatory
• Pledge to be vigilant at the end of the training (without putting liability on employee)
• Cut out of employees with pneumonic – I have taken the pledge have you
• Set up vigilante cells to report potential risks


Validate

• Using quiz/in-office gaming
• Ascertain status check for campaign or the need to do more
• Scenarios with multiple choice answers to be created and rolled online
• 100% coverage to be ensured by IT & HR


Reward

• Recognize positive behavior change 
• Public recognition through town halls, notice boards 
• Employee heroes to be felicitated 
• SPOCS to be recognized



The Characters

Since the communication was directly aimed at the Compass Group employees, most of whom were cooks/chefs, our strategy was to create characters that would resonate with the audience. Apart from that, these characters were given easy to remember names & easy to understand visual identities directly in line with their characteristic qualities.
