Making final selects is one of the most challenging parts of creating a book. Each image requires so much time and effort to create, being able to decide when to include it and when to leave it out becomes extremely difficult because sometimes you just want to showcase everything! Below are some screenshots of the images that didn't make the cut this time, but are worth mentioning anyway because I still love how they came out. These are all completely unedited (aside from a few colour and lighting tweaks). 

Above is a side by side of one image that made it into the book and one that didn't. Although I do like incorporating human elements, I ended up using 113 over 128 because I felt it showcased the food a bit better and elevated the recipe. 

These two jicama fries shots almost made it in, but in the end I decided to go with the completed dish over the "in the process" shots. I think for my extended version I might find a way to incorporate more step by step visuals, but for now I simply don't have enough imagery from each recipe to cohesively include these for this submission. 

I also played around with spice shots for some of the recipes just to embellish them a bit more, but in the end I decided to take them out as I didn't feel that they were as strong as they could've been.

I really wanted to include shots of my fonio pilaf by itself, but sadly fonio is not the most exciting dish to shoot as it's very monotone and lacks texture. At least I tried.

These two crepe cake shots I really love, but in the end decided to go with a few other images that were a bit stronger. 

I was planning on including a drinks section as well, but in the end I decided against it for now. Part of the reasoning was that most alcohol is not as sustainable as it could be, so I didn't want to include it until I was certain I had all of the facts and correct information on which types were the best for the environment. 

I really love these two images, they just didn't make it into the book this time around because of lack of space. They were also a bit too similar to the version that I did end up using, so including them might've felt a bit redundant.
