SMH Honors History Writing through Book Awards

Peter Zeller has worked for Honeywell, Inc., -based in Charlotte, NC, for the past 16 years, and currently serves as a director of strategic sourcing. Also a resident of Charlotte, NC, Peter Zeller has interests that include military history, and he is a member of the Society for Military History (SMH).

Among SMH’s many activities, it awards authors who have written books on military-related subjects the chance to be recognized through its Distinguished Book Awards. The organization was launched in 1933 to advance and encourage the study of military history. Since this time, SMH has become a hub of military-related research and education, much of which can be found in its Journal of Military History.

This year’s awards were given to works that were published in 2019 and 2020 and fell into one of the six categories: American military history, non-American military history, trade press, biographies and memoirs, first book, and reference works. This year’s selections were chosen in January 2021, and the award winners were recognized at a March reception.
