folder_cube ( inside out exhibition) 2010

The object ‘folder_cube’ is representative of over 12 years investigation exploring the development and application of 3D printing techniques for the realization of creative artifacts by artists and designers. Folder_cube was shown as part of the ‘inside out exhibition’, a curated collection of rapid prototype sculptures designed by an selection of international creative practitioners including textile designers, architects, painters, sculptors, new media artists, and cultural theorists. I was also involved in the design of the Sydney show and the selection of the Australasian artists.
The inside out show followed the model of the MadeKnown exhibition and publication which I curated with Brit Bunkley in 2006. MadeKnown was one of the first international shows created from a collection of digital sculptures - emailed to the physical venue from artists around the world (Australasia, Europe and the United States).
