Being familiar with and a follower of his music, and in the spirit of Lionel's website tagline 'Music for the Ages', and 'Life comes and goes, but music lasts forever', my intention was to design a cover that covered the breadth of his music and convey a sense of its feeling and transcendence of time.

I decided that the piano, representing Lionel's music, would be set within an environment indicating and yet unmoved by the passing of time.

Beyond the crumbled walls, the landscape is bare in the foreground, but with the hint of a path leading us to the hills beyond. These distant hills are patched with vegetation and snow, cold but mysterious, and the sky- indicating cloud and mist, is touched with light golden sunshine of hope. We are invited to explore further with the beauty of Lionel's music to accompany us on an emotional journey.
