Devil : An effective grab on the devil side of horror
By Ameya Srinivasan May 3, 2021

Speak of the devil! - I mean the movie. A clearly well delivered thrill pack with four people stuck in an elevator as the storyline. Like the title suggests, the film is about a devil and one of the four, might be the devil.

The real fun is - it makes us doubt everyone casted in the film. The pacing is good, the mood is good, what's not good is some cliched scenes intended to be surprising. The short runtime is fit for the nature of the story.

The performance of the cast is mixed in taste, though Logan Marshall Green stands out. It's surprising that his choice of roles always fall under the emotionally broken category. The direction of John Erick sync well with the storyline - which comes from the brainchild of M.Night Shyamalan.

The final relief comes as the Devil makes pretty logical and sensible decisions with the characters. The Devil can't be fooled or tamed - but he sure knows how to deal with people. The allegory with devil and his purpose can be sealed off as moral policing - with brains. If you think you are bad, beware of the devil's footsteps approaching near you! Just kidding - or not!
